America’s changing readers-Strategies for digital publishing in a time of uncertainty
Chris Meade was CEO of the Poetry Society and Booktrust before setting up if:book london, a UK charity which works alongside the Institute for the Future of the Book in the USA to explore how our culture is moving from printed page to networked screen. He will be talking about their experiments in reading, including The Motfothotbook, a project in UK secondary schools to imagine where books go next.
1st 'thing' - In English we discovered a paper with a picture of 'MotForHotBook' and text saying 'Sorry for the computers!'
2nd 'thing' - Someone closed down the Powerpoint, went on the desktop and started moving around the icons. He/she then opened Notepad and typed 'Primitive lifeforms, the end draws near'
3nd 'thing' - A box which was found in Mrs Clarkes' classroom with a picture of 'MotFotHotBook' and inside there were three USB sticks wrapped and sellotaped strangely. Mr Richardson inserted the USB into the computer and three files were discovered (videos named 'Play Me' and word documents named 'Open me') . We discovered the Enrolment Key which is required to not register, but view the courses once you have registered on the website. It is 'Austen'. Another video which is very strange but ends with the text 'Can you pleeeeaz help?'
Next English lesson we might find out
OK HERE----
My cousin in Year 9 said that there was exactly the same thing in English when he was in Yr8 and that it was set up by the teachers.
Explains it all, if he's right.
