tanika. i think that Harald Hadrada should be the next king of England because his father ruled England before him and he was the rightful rein. Plus, he has ruled since 1035 already and knew what it meant to be king, this meant that he also knew how to fight and with his origins meaning that he was a viking he was also strong and brave. Resulting, in him being fit to be king in every way. ;D

I voted for Harold Godwinson, the main reason being is that on Edward the Confessor's deathbed he stated that his rightful successor was Harold Godwinson. There were many things back then that would help your claim to the throne be considered, possibly the most important one was having a royal bloodline (which Harold possessed) another important one is having heirs to take the throne once you have died. Not only did Harold have theses attributes, he also knew how to make decisions that benefited him ,his country and it's people best making him very popular. When it came to war Godwinson knew how to keep his troops to the maximum at all times.

i voted for edgar because his claim to the throne was more strong; because he was the most blood related and lived in england, causing him to have greater advantages than the rest. ;D

Harold Godwinson because he was at the kings death bed, he had the dying wish to look after his wife and his kingdom=becoming king. Dying wishes dismiss promises plus Harold is the richest person also he has good bonds with people in the UK. He is also a duke and has more strong points then any other contender, because at least he is living in the UK and is old enough to be king. A child would not be most legit to the throne also not someone who comes from far who says they won't flee back to there country if something happens back at there home town. Sidra Begum

[glow=red,2,300][/glow] Clearly Harold Godwin has the strongest claim to the throne and the strongest position in England to rule it and is obviously the the most powerful and confident King in his rule and can make a decision and stick to it. As the wealthiest claimant, and one of the most powerful, Harold Godwin stands as the main threat to the throne and [glow=red,2,300]Harold Godwin Has The Best Claim To The Throne.[/glow]

I voted for Harold Godwinson because I think he had the best claim to the throne seeing as Edward the Confessor supposedly named him as the successor for the crown; however I do think that Edgar had a stronger claim to the throne because of his noble ancestry unfortunately he couldn’t have possibly claimed the throne successfully because he was only ten years old! If another country had waged war, then unless he was an abnormally bright child (which I very much doubt) he would have been very lost even with advisors and mentors to guide him through the period of confrontation.
Harold was the Earl of Wessex, one of the most powerful Earls in England; this meant that he had a prevailing influence over some of the other lesser nobles; he was also the richest man in England after his father had died in 1053. If you put two and two together then you can see it would be a possible outcome that Harold could have bribed other nobles to turn a blind eye to his hasty coronation and not become suspicious.
Because Harold was English (or Anglo- Saxon) the surely the masses would prefer an English king whose bloodlines can be traced back over time, to a Danish or French king that has no prior knowledge of how Anglo- Saxon England should be run. It helped that the Witan (a council consisting of 60 powerful nobles from across England) approved of him too, they would have accepted him because he was A) English and very rich and B) his Father had been an influential member of the Witan before his death.
I don’t know if what I’ve written is any good but, this is why I personally voted for Harold Godwinson

In my opinion, William Duke of Normandy is the rightful owner of the throne, as he has many links with England, including a very strong friendship with Wessex, who he is also natural trading partners with. Aswell as this, he is also a distant cousin of King Edward The Confessor. If it wasnt 10:30 pm, i would list many more points to boost my argument, but i think it is already clear that William Duke of Normandy is the best man for the job, since he also has an army of his own who can help England in their hours of need.

I think that Harold Godwinson should have been King and he was. I think this because there was alto going for him. He even had Witan on his side. He was powerful and claimed that on Edward the Confessor''s death bed Edward told him that he was to be his successor. This is a small amount of information about Harold Godwinson, that show that it was right that he became King and should have been King. This is all very well but he had three rival to compete against for the throne. Edgar Aetheling was also a very strong candidate for the throne. He was the Rightful Heir to the throne, in the he was the closest blood relative to Edward the confessor. He (Edgar Aetheing) was merely 10 years of age and he was not even powerful enough to enforce his own claim to the throne. His major fault was that he was too young. His ( Harold Godwinson) major threat, at least the person i thought posed a major threat was not really much of a threat, so it was practically inevitable that he was to become King. It only seemed common sense for Harold Godwinson to be Crowned King.

I think that Harold Godwinson should be king becaause he is a good fighter and a good leader. He has shown in war that he has what it takes to be king also knows the Witan who is one of the 60 hardest men in England. He is also the richest man in England, and I think that he will have authority.
